Bring HopOn to
Your Community
Why should you bring HopOn into your community?
With an adaptable and games-based format, HopOn has something for everyone and can work in almost any context. With a program that makes kids say “this is better than YouTube“, there is plenty to get excited about! HopOn…
- Is an opportunity for youths to learn life-long cycling skills in a fun environment.
- Helps to keep youths physically active and healthy
- Provides youths an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors
- Can lead to more opportunities to keep on pedaling
HopOn is overseen at the local level by our partner provincial and territorial organization. They are able to provide support and guidance at every step of the HopOn program.
What does a typical HopOn program look like?
In a club
HopOn is a great introduction and development program for cycling clubs. With it’s flexibility in games and movement skills, it can present a fun opportunity for all participants. Using a levels system, clubs can use it to progress participants to a level where they can join competitive programs if they wish.
Instructors receive quality training and support from local provincial or territorial associations to ensure that they are supported in delivering the best programming possible to promote and grow your club.
In a school
HopOn is a great activity to bring into your school. It serves as valuable physical activity while helping teach students new skills that can serve them for life. There is some flexibility with how HopOn programs work at a school, but typically:
- Instructors are onsite for three consecutive days and work with multiple classes over 45-60 minute sessions. Each class will participate in one session per day
- Instructors arrive 60 minutes ahead of the first session to check in with the school’s organizer and to set up games and equipment.
- Participating students are provided with a bike and helmet (if needed) followed by a quick safety check
- Students are led through skill building activities followed by games to consolidate their new skills
- Each skill/game builds on the learnings of previous days
- Between classes, instructors will take 15 minutes to reorganize the equipment

In a camp
With it’s flexible design, HopOn can be molded to fit most contexts and our games-based model can be a great fit for summer camps. Movement skills can progress throughout the week as campers improve, leading to new and more challenging game options.
From an instructor perspective, camp counsellors can receive all of the training to lead programming. There may also be opportunities to partner with local clubs to co-deliver this programming and offer a unique camp activity.
At an event
HopOn can be a great fit for events looking to have activities for kids onsite. Games can be led in small groups to allow kids to burn off some energy while learning a new skill.
Many clubs and organizations offering HopOn have their own fleets of bikes and equipment that can be brought onsite by knowledgable instructors who can then lead the games and create some smiles.
Within a municipality
Municipalities with physical activity programs for youth can look to train their staff to deliver HopOn. The levels-based model allows for many programming options and flexibility.
We can either look to train munipal staff to run the program, or can facilitiate connections between locally based instructors and/or clubs.
