Become an Instructor

Want to become an Instructor?

All instructors must complete a selection of in-person and virtual trainings before they can instruct a program. The overall training should take approximately 13-14 hours in total.

  • NCCP Coach Initiation in Sport (available online; 45 minutes)
  • HopOn eLearning (register through your provincial or territorial cycling association; available online; 4 hours)
  • HopOn Orientation (in-person; register through your provincial or territorial cycling association; 8 hours)

Note that Provinces or Territories may require that instructors also complete the NCCP Safe Sport Training eLearning and/or the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders course, module as well as a background check.

Instructors must be a minimum of 14 years old.

If you are a member of a black or indigenous community, you may be eligible for funding to support your instructor education. You can apply using the application form here.
